THE PROCESS

Learning ceramics at Workshopp is a meditative and creative process. Working with clay is fun, but there are no instant results. The practice of pottery depends on drying times, firing the work twice and working over a few weeks to achieve your finished pieces.

Step 1. THROW SOME POTS01

Jump on the wheel and learn some tried and trusted techniques. You’ll have a pottery wheel to yourself for the whole class to practise and have fun

Step 2. TRIM & TURN02

After your pots have dried to leather-hard, we will put them back on the wheel – upside down! You’ll learn to refine and shape the base of your pieces

Step 3. BISQUE FIRE03

When completely dry your work gets fired in the kiln for the first time. This first firing means that you can now glaze your work and apply some colour

Step 4. GLAZE04

Now the final stage – applying glaze! There are a few different application techniques we can show you to get the best results for your individual pieces

Step 5. COLLECT05

Your work now goes into the kiln again and is fired to an even higher temperature. Then in 2 weeks you can collect your beautiful creations!
